We invite you to experience the natural, New England charm of the McLaughlin
farm. Hike our trails along the Housatonic River, picnic at the edge
of the vineyards, browse through our selection of fine wines and our
own maple products produced and bottled right here at our winery and
sugarhouse. Our 160 acre family farm was purchased by our grandparents
in the early 1940's. Today the farm is in the third generation and we
are dedicated to preserving it for many generations to come.

The Wines:
We are a producer of dry style white and red wines. We produce Chardonnay,
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Seyval Blanc, Riesling, and several white,
blush, and red blends. Our 15 acre on-site vineyard supplies us with
about 60% of our grape production. The remainder of the fruit is contracted
from growers in the Finger Lakes of New York and the North Fork of Long
Island. Do not worry if you like a sweeter style wine, we have several
choices.
The Vineyards:
We grow approximately 60% of our fruit on our 15 acre vineyard. Varietals
grown here are French-american hybrids: Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Aurora,
Cayuga, Chancellor, Foch, and Leon Millot. Our growing season begins
in mid-May and continues until the last week of September. Our relatively
short season prohibits the growing of vinifera varietals at our site.
We contract with reputable growers on Long Island for Chardonnay, Cabernet
Franc, and Merlot. Riesling is contracted from the best region in the
United States for this varietal, the Finger Lakes region of upstate
New York.
Unique Offerings:
We are located in the heart of the Housatonic River Valley on a 160
acre estate. With our close proximity to several state forests and the
Housatonic River, we have on-site and nearby accessible hiking trails
and bald eagle viewing in the winter. Maple syrup is produced in the
spring and is available year round. With our large lawn and perennial
gardens we are a great location for picnicking, pictures, games, and
relaxation. Our summer music series in June, July and August has become
popular. Private parties and luncheons can be arranged.
Special Awards/Recognitions:
"McLaughlin's is a good place to taste hybrid and vinifera wines
side by side. Both are well-made and flavorful here. Overall McLaughlin
wines have a distinct personality and are appealing examples of good
regional wines." Marguerite Thomas, Wineries of the Eastern States.
"You don't have to be a wine connoisseur to appreciate a springtime
drive. But a few winding roads leading over rolling hills and alongside
cascading waterfalls will beckon almost any wine aficionado to McLaughlin
Vineyards." Country Living Magazine, April 2000
